In Week 1 the lecturer introduce the module outline and expectations and as a student what should we do . Also have the project briefing.

Proposal

We are acquiring knowledge about a specific cultural occurrence or subculture, conducting research within a chosen topic to communicate the cultural components without changing the essential facts. The broad subject provided is "Cultural Sensitivity in Design."

In this undertaking, we are required to develop three initial concepts on how to illustrate our understanding visually and a brief explanation of approximately 200 words for each design.

Week 2 and Week 3 - Research Method &Proposal Presentation

Idea

Figure 1.1- Idea Proposed

We created some ideas and got some feedback form the lecturers . The cultures we proposed are Miao Traditional Costume , Henna Hand Art, and Wau Kite.

Preliminary Research

               1. Miao Traditional Costume
               2. Henna hand Art
               3. Wau Kite

After we discussion we decided our topic are Henna Hand Art for the proposal.

Week 4 and Week 5 - Data Collection & Data Compilation

In this part , we are to collect some data about henna hand art .

The Data collection methods
- Interview
- Online and physical research

Methods:
1. Interview
we googling the henna stores around KL(Kuala Lumpur) and found a store named Unique Art of Henna . We asked some questions about Henna.

These are the questions we have asked:

1.How have you honed your proficiency in henna art?

2.Can you tell me about some difficulties you've encountered as a henna artist and how you managed to overcome them?

3.Do you have any notable incidents or tales from your career as a henna artist that you could share?

4.Could you elaborate on some frequently used patterns or symbols in henna art and their meanings?

5.Do you concur with the notion that henna art is specifically for women?

6.Are there any particular artists or influencers within the henna community that have greatly impacted or shaped your work?

7.What do you aspire for people to gain from your henna art, whether that's through your artwork or your instructional methods?

Final Project 2 : Data Collection

After the interview we didn't get so much information from the artist , but we know that she has liked henna since her grandmother is a henna artist . Here are the answers we got.

Henna art is just like something in her mind, because since her grandmother was a henna artist, she learned to draw henna art since she was young. In her mind, henna art seem like somethings she knew since she born, so she said since she became henna artist, she didn't meet any problem, but one things which she could related as problem is most of the young generation do not know the specific traditional art of henna, they just choose to draw something they like, such as cartoon art or tattoo art, she wish that the traditional henna art can be recognized by all around the world. After that, when we showed her our new henna art, she thought it was very good because we have combined the traditional henna art into new things . After our discussion, we decided to make a website which described the traditional pattern art of henna and the combination of new henna art with traditional henna art.

In the Week 5 , we have the conversation with our lecturer, Mr. Charles about our ideas and data collections. We showed him our preliminary ideas and the data collection process. After the conversation, he advised us to use the henna design as our finalized idea. in the finalized idea shows the mixed culture design.

Final Assessment

Week 6

We have another discussion with our instructor Mr. Charles, this week about our finalized ideas. We've shown him the plan for the final project, and we've suggested that we consider converting it to something similar, such as a wind flow that looks like dragon's breath, because it looks better than a dragon's form.

Week 7 - Final Project Presentation

For our last conversation with Mr. Charles, he told us the dragon's breath design is better for our finalized idea of the henna art. Also he advised us to create the e book and put it together.

Final Project: Visual Design

Reflection:

This module provides me with the chance to understand the role of design and the designer within a broader cultural, political, and social context. It familiarizes me with local and/or global design and design-related issues by involving me with external organizations, groups, or cultures, which could lead to potential collaborations. Additionally, this module promotes direct engagement with prominent creators, artists, illustrators, external organizations, and students from design schools in other countries. Over the course of the week, I have enjoyed observing how our team collaborated on our project. Right from the start, we quickly agreed on our topic and assigned roles to each team member. Fortunately, we were able to communicate effectively despite our diverse personalities and nationalities. Finally, I am grateful for the support of our instructors, particularly Mr. Charles, who has been guiding us towards achieving a successful outcome with our final product.
