Week 4:

What is production Crew?

A group of experts known as the production crew collaborate to make a movie or video. Every crew member has a distinct function and set of duties that are critical to the production's success as a whole. The duties of some of the main members of the production team are as follows:

1) The director
The director bears the responsibility of supervising the whole production and guaranteeing the realization of the project's creative concept.
They make artistic choices about the film's appearance and mood, block out sequences, and supervise the actors' performances in close collaboration with the cast and crew.

2) The creator
The financial and logistical components of the production are within the purview of the producer.
They find funds, recruit the team, plan the timetable and locations, and make ensuring the project is finished on budget and on schedule.

3) The photographer
The director of photography (DP), sometimes referred to as the cinematographer, is in charge of the film's visual aesthetic.
To get the ideal look and feel for every scene, they collaborate closely with the director to select the ideal camera, lenses, and lighting.

4) Designer of Production
The production designer is in charge of the movie's entire visual aesthetic, which includes the sets, outfits, and accessories.
To produce a unified and captivating visual universe for the narrative, they collaborate closely with the director and cinematographer.

5) Sound Engineer
The sound designer is in charge of the movie's audio, which includes recording and editing the music, sound effects, and speech.
To guarantee that the sound and image are seamlessly combined, they collaborate closely with the director and editor.

6) Editor
The editor is in charge of putting the video together to create a captivating narrative.
To influence the film's tempo, tone, and structure, they collaborate closely with the director and sound designer.

(High level)
These are some of the most important jobs and duties in the filmmaking process, however there are many more on a production crew, such as grips, gaffers, makeup artists, and stunt coordinators.

Filmmaking stages:

1) Development
The scriptwriter or producer comes up with the concept, and they start making it into a movie.
The producer is in charge of gathering the creative components, often known as assembling a package. This includes the director, performers, script, and IP.
A package should have strong sellability in order to draw in financial investment.

2) Pre-production
Prior to the start of filming, this step involves the essential preparation.
For instance, managing the money, assembling the team, and using Storyboard for pre-visualization.

3) Manufacturing
The whole movie takes place on this stage.
Setup (lighting, camera, makeup, and costume), shooting, and the call sheet (schedule for each department and what they should do) will all be included in this step.

4)Post-production
This is the post-production phase after the video has been captured.
Picture editing, sound editing, and other visual activities like VFX and CGI are included in this.

5) Distribution
In the phases of film production, this step is sometimes overlooked.
Marketing and distribution security are part of this stage.

Week 5: (No lectures on the shooting day)

Week 6

We learned about color correction and color grading from Mr. Martin in this presentation. Usually done initially, color correction may be thought of as "make up" for the scene's colors.

Color correction:
Process of correcting or fixing colors in a video to get them back to what they should look like for your project.
Color grading:
Process of grading or editing colors in a video or film to give them a stylistic look.
We are instructed to do color correction for the "LALIN"  video. When there is multiple scenes, we need to decide which scene's color is closer to the ideal outcome, and take it as the reference for the others.

When doing color correction, be "color blind" and focsus on highlight, midtone and shadow. Do not distracted by the colors.

I did my first rough cut and formed my idea. After looking at the samples provided by Mr. Martin, I decided to go with a more combustible vibe instead of a tense one.

I think it fits the overall atmosphere very well. In addition, I created some subtitles to be interspersed between different scenes.

REFELCTION

Since this is my first time storyboarding, filming, and editing an entire video, it is a really difficult undertaking for me. It enables me to share my personal aesthetic opinions about video works.

The editing portion of this project is, in my opinion, the most challenging assignment in the whole program. For a respectable result, it needs a feeling of flow in the editing, visual effects, and music choices.
